Patients requiring bone grafts
If a small amount of bone is required the bone is usually taken from another part of the mouth. This is usually carried out in the surgery under intravenous sedation.

The implants are then placed once the graft has healed some months later, if they cannot be placed at the same time.Once the implant is placed and later exposed, the gum is lifted and the post attached to the implant after which a temporary restoration is placed followed by a permanent crown.
